HUMPSTER DUMPSTER and the Stories We Tell Ourselves

Humpster Dumpster and the Stories We Tell Ourselves is a collection of sketches that reimagine children’s stories for the adult world. Originally produced in 2018 with the Yale Drama Coalition, this show takes another life in Los Angeles at the Elysian Theater. The show will feature several new sketches, a musical number, and a never-before-seen ensemble cast jam-packed with some of LA’s funniest and brightest.

Boldly slapstick and at times dark, the show takes the audience through reinterpretations of classic stories. What if Goldilocks and the Three Bears were on Chopped? What if Old McDonald lost the farm? What if the Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood was actually a pretty sexy grandma? Humpty Dumpty’s death and the scenes surrounding it frame the show, culminating in a dark yet heartwarming scene where Humpster Dumpster, Humpty Dumpty’s dark-horse brother, reckons with their relationship and comes to terms with his death. These sketches are for kids who grew up and for adults who stayed young. Full video below!
